1. How to Delete Your Account
You can request the permanent deletion of your Wister account using either of the following methods:
Option A — From the App
- Open the Wister app
- Go to Settings (tap the gear icon)
- Scroll down and tap Delete Account
- Confirm the deletion when prompted
Option B — By Email
If you cannot access the app, you can request account deletion by sending an email to:
privacy@wister.site
Please include the phone number associated with your account so we can verify your identity. We will process your request within 5 business days of verification.
2. What Data Is Deleted
When your account is deleted, the following data is permanently removed from our servers:
- Profile information — display name, profile photo, birthday, nameday
- Messages — all chat messages you have sent and received
- Stories — all stories you have posted (including media files)
- Ruby balance — any remaining Rubies in your inventory (purchased and received)
- Gift history — records of gifts sent and received
- Contact data — your synced contacts list
- Notification settings — all personalized notification preferences
- Call history — records of voice and video calls
- Uploaded media — photos, videos, and other files stored on our servers
3. Deletion Timeline

During the 30-day deletion window, you may contact us to cancel the deletion and restore your account. After this period, deletion is irreversible.
4. Data We May Retain
In accordance with applicable law (including GDPR and Greek Law 4624/2019), we may retain certain limited data after account deletion:
- Transaction records — records of Ruby purchases and Gift Repurchase payments may be retained for up to 7 years as required by Greek tax law (Law 4174/2013) and EU anti-money laundering regulations (Directive (EU) 2015/849)
- Abuse and safety reports — if your account was involved in a report (as reporter or reported), anonymized report records may be retained for up to 1 year for safety purposes
- Legal obligations — any data required to comply with legal proceedings, law enforcement requests, or regulatory requirements
Retained data is stored securely and is not used for any purpose other than legal compliance.
5. Important Notes
- Deletion is permanent. Once the 30-day window passes, your data cannot be recovered.
- Purchased Rubies are forfeited. Any unused Rubies will be lost. If you believe you are entitled to a refund, please contact legal@wister.site before deleting your account (see our Terms of Service, Section 15).
- Messages in other users' chats. Messages you sent to other users may still appear in their chat history. However, your profile information (name, photo) will be removed and replaced with "Deleted User".
- Re-registration. You may create a new account with the same phone number after deletion is complete, but no previous data will be restored.
